STS JSC experts made a presentation at the Cyber and Digital Security 2025 forum
On April 2-3, 2025, Astana hosted the forum and exhibition of information security technologies and strategies "Cyber and Digital Security". The event brought together leading experts and professionals from various sectors and industries, and also became an important platform for exchanging experience in the field of cybersecurity. JSC "State Technical Service" acted as an information partner of this forum.
The event actively discussed issues of ensuring information security in the context of rapid digitalization. Deputy Chairman of the Board of JSC "GTS" Ulykbek Shambulov made a report at the main plenary session. During his speech, Shambulov focused on the growing threats to cybersecurity.
"Digitalization and the rapid introduction of artificial intelligence bring significant benefits to society and business, but at the same time create new opportunities for attackers. We are seeing an increase in cyberattacks on government agencies, the financial sector and critical infrastructure, with AI increasingly being used as a tool for hacking and scaling attacks. This highlights the need for a comprehensive approach to protecting the digital space and implementing modern cybersecurity technologies,” Ulykbek Shambulov noted in his speech.
The Deputy Chairman also shared the results of the analysis of cyber incidents recorded in Kazakhstan in 2023-2024. Last year, more than 41 thousand attacks were registered, including virus threats, DDoS attacks, phishing and Trojans. According to him, threats are becoming increasingly complex and multifaceted.
“The increase in the number of cyberattacks, as well as the use of new technologies such as artificial intelligence and IoT, makes cyber defense a more complex task. Attackers are increasingly using advanced methods such as social engineering to carry out attacks,” he added.
The State Technical Service plays a key role in ensuring the cybersecurity of Kazakhstan. In 2024, GTS blocked more than 740 million cyberattacks and successfully repelled over 6.5 thousand DDoS attacks on critical infrastructure facilities.
“Our work includes a full cycle of information system protection, from testing and auditing to monitoring and rapid response. We work with government agencies and the private sector to ensure the most effective protection of data and information resources,” Ulykbek Shambulov emphasized.
In conclusion of his speech, Ulykbek Shambulov emphasized that cybersecurity should become a strategic priority for all sectors of the economy and society.
“In the face of a growing threat of cyberattacks, we must constantly improve our approaches to protection, introduce new technologies and actively prepare for possible incidents. We are obliged to create a sustainable and secure digital environment for all citizens and organizations of the country,” Ulykbek Shambulov concluded.
