THE WEBSITE OF THE KAZAKHSTAN METROPOLITAN DISTRICT WAS SUBJECT TO CYBER ATTACKS
The National Service for Responding to Computer Incidents KZ-CERT (hereinafter – KZ-CERT) JSC “State Technical Service” informs that last month an attack was made on the website of the Metropolitan District in the Republic of Kazakhstan, as a result of which the website was hacked.
The work of the site was restored, but the prolonged shutdown of its work caused concern among regular users. On Mitropolia.kz it contains a large amount of content accumulated over 12 years of work and representing significant archival value. The site’s audience includes thousands of Internet users.
Note that the site Mitropolia.kz it was located on the site of a hosting provider that could not cope with an attack of this kind.
In this regard, since the probability of a repeated hacker attack was high, the Head of the Orthodox Church, Metropolitan Alexander, appealed to JSC “STS” with a request to find out the source of the threat and take the necessary measures to ensure the information security of the Internet resource.
To date, KZ-CERT specialists have sent recommendations to the owner of the Internet resource and the hosting provider to improve the security level of the Internet resource and prevent such information security incidents. At the moment, the Internet resource is protected by the Anti-DDoS system of JSC “STS”.
